社会需要叙事,需要叙事建立起码的对社会事实的共识。在现代国家的公共领域,有事实就出议题,有议题就能够产生共同思想。看到思想的表达,才见到人之成为人;在共同思想中才见到社会。新闻在呈现事实,但是新闻事实在厚度和纵深上远远不够,现代世界还需要社会科学对事实的呈现,尤其是民族志以厚重的方式对事实的呈现,因为民族志擅长在事实里呈现并理解整个社会与文化。
