歐文．亞隆（Irvin D. Yalom, MD, 1931-）
一九三一年六月十三日生於美國華盛頓特區，是美國當代精神醫學大師級人物，也是造詣高深的心理治療思想家。他將以人際關係為基礎的心理治療理論發揚光大，成為美國團體治療的當代權威，並將存在主義哲學融入心理治療之中，開創了風格獨特、也啟發無數人的治療思想。
曾任教於美國史丹佛大學，目前是該校榮譽退休教授。他的著作極受重視，其中《團體心理治療的理論與實務》、《存在心理治療》為心理治療的經典教科書，而一部部散文與小說，包括《日漸親近》、《生命的禮物》、《凝視太陽》、《愛情劊子手》、《診療椅上的謊言》、《當尼采哭泣》、《叔本華的眼淚》、《斯賓諾莎問題》、《一日浮生》等，均是全球暢銷之作。妻子瑪莉蓮病逝之前，兩人合著《死亡與生命手記》。
瑪莉蓮．亞隆（Marilyn Yalom PhD, 1932-2019）
瑪莉蓮．亞隆成長於華盛頓特區，曾就讀魏斯理學院、索邦大學、哈佛大學與約翰．霍普金斯大學。她與精神醫學大師歐文．亞隆（Irvin D. Yalom）結縭65年，育有四個孩子，並有孫兒女八人。她曾擔任法語系教授、比較文學教授，也曾擔任女性研究機構的講座教授，是廣受歡迎的巡迴講座演講人，在文學與女性史領域著作等身，並曾獲頒法國政府的教育文化勳章。瑪莉蓮．亞隆亦為美國史丹福大學「女性與性別研究所」資深研究者。
作品有《太太的歷史》（心靈工坊）、《血誓姊妹：女性回憶中的法國大革命》（Blood Sisters: French Revolution in Women's Memory）、《母道、死亡與瘋狂的文學》（Maternity, Mortality, and the Literature of Madness）、《乳房的歷史》（先覺）等，其中《乳房的歷史》譯為十種語言，中文版獲選二○○○年「中國時報」開卷版、「聯合報」讀書人版、明日報等最佳書獎。
二○一九年年初瑪麗蓮檢查出罹患多發性骨髓瘤，歷經化療、免疫球蛋白療法皆無效後，於二○一九年十一月二十日，在家人陪伴下於加州家中去世，享年87歲。病逝前與丈夫歐文合著《死亡與生命手記》。

亚隆曾在书中描述过，一些病人精神科出身的亚隆，在书中通常称来访者为“病人”）会对他房间中的装饰评头品足，对花园里的植物指指点点，抱怨坏了的纱门怎么老不修，调侃他为什么不换空了的纸巾盒。对于一般人来说，这都是看似与治疗无关的细节，但亚隆却能从中看到“每个人不同的内部世界，同样的刺激对不同的人有不同的意义”
我宁舍天下一切……天下一切……只要能看她脸上的那一抹微笑
