Robert L. Forward（1932-2002）
美国物理学家及科幻小说家。马里兰大学博士，博士论文题目为《论动态重力井的探索》。他曾在休斯飞机研究所工作，并常年为NASA和美国空军提供咨询服务。他还对引力波探测做出了重要贡献。
福沃德一生发表了200余篇论文，以及11部小说。他的科幻作品中，兼具理论物理学家严谨的科学态度，以及航空航天工程师丰富的学术运用能力。他将自己的小说处女作《龙蛋》称为“一本伪装成小说的中子星教科书”。
他曾为多位科幻作家提供物理学上的技术支持，比如他曾为拉里·尼文的小说《积分树》计算烟环的参数。
